The Facts on Dominant

Fabric Softener & Brightener

There are many benefits to using this laundry essential.

Anti-static
Fabrics naturally have a negative charge. Fabric softener has a positive charge, therefore making the surface charge neutral and ensuring your clothes won’t cling to you or other pieces of clothing.

Soft Feel
Fabric softener achieves soft feeling clothes by acting like a conditioner to your clothes, similar to hair conditioner on your hair.

Lessens drying time
Using fabric softener in your wash will lessen drying time as it essentially rejects water and less water is absorbed into the fabric. Don’t be concerned that this doesn’t allow for your fabrics to be cleaned thoughroughly, remember fabric softener is only added to the rinsing cycle.

Reduces skin irritation
As Fabric Softener & Brightener is mildly acidic, it neautralises the pH level of fabrics reducing the risk of skin irritation which can be caused by alkaline residues.

Easier Ironing
Fabric Softener & Brightener lubricates fabrics, making ironing a breeze. You can also dilute 1 capful of fabric softener with water in a trigger spray bottle and use as an ironing aid.

Keep your fabrics bug-free
Fabric Softener & Brightener also contains 2 anti microbial agents helping to promote hygiene in your laundry.

Fabric Softener Myth Buster

MYTH: Fabric softener water proofs your cloths

FACT: To some degree this is correct but only if you use more than the recommended dosage. If used as per the product’s directions this will not occur. If you accidentally add to much to the wash, simply wash your clothes as normal without adding fabric softener and after a few washes this will remove the build up from your clothing.

TIP: Don’t use when washing Happi Cloths. Microfibre’s cleaning performance relies on tiny hooks in the fabric picking up dirt and soils. Fabric Softener smooths these tiny hooks, reducing the effectiveness of the Happi Cloth.

MYTH: Fabric softener can make your whites yellow

FACT: Many older fabric softener formulas were prone to giving whites a yellow tinge. Today’s fabric softeners are less likely to cause this, however be sure to follow the dosage directions as overuse could lead to build up on your clothes.

MYTH: Fabric softener clogs up your washing machine

FACT: Only through extreme overuse of Dominant Fabric Softener & Brightener would this happen. Machines can become clogged up with something called “Biofilm.” Biofilm can sometimes look like fabric softener however it is actually a build up of bacteria and is more prevalent in machines where low temperature wash cycles are always used, combined with the use of liquid laundry products. Prevent Biofilm from developing in your machine by simply taking the following step:

From time to time, use the hot wash cycle and if possible use Clinic Antibacterial Laundry Powder to remove any stubborn bacteria.
